What are the major differences-if any between the two- I have NX2 and find it alittle overwhelming, learning ever time but I get frustrated very quick. Ihave been working with the y
YouTube tutorials and it has helped, the Nikonowners manal seems to be written for someone who already knows how to use it.
Is Element much the same?

If you shoot Nikon the Capture NX2 will become much more intuitive as you get used to it due to the similarities in nomenclature. I have Elements and hardly ever even consider using it.
And Capture NX3 is due out soon, maybe before the end of the year.

Thanks MT Shooter
If I can't figure out NX2 I doubt very much NX3 is on the shopping list, I think when I figure at least alittle more it will be enough until I'm done. It is amazing what it will do, but what I still have a problem with is this really photography.
I very serious about taking out my F4s & F5 alittle more, get to spend alot more time taking them as you do trying to make them better. Much appreciated for your time and response.

Its really no different that shooting film. You expose the film, then take it into the lab for processing. The difference here is that the "film" is a digital file, and the "lab" is your computer.

Have used NX for some time - also have PaintShop. I primarilly use NX, switching to Paint Shop if what I want goes beyond NX" I found Ben Long's book - "Nikon CaptuerNX" to be extremely helpful, complements or replaces the NX manual.

I take my raw photos directly into LR 4. Am I missing something by not using NX along with the import process??

Don't know - I use Nikon's ViewNX - free download. I can bring an image into its screen and click the tab "Capture NX2" and the image is sent to Capture for editing. View loads Nikon NEF as well as TIFF and JPEG

All editing software is difficult to learn. They do so much that it's mind boggling. Whatever you do, pick one and then stick with it. I used to work for a computer store and the different software makers would put on lunchtime seminars on their latest products. Most would give 'not for resale' copies of their wares to the employees. I had so many that that I never learned a single one. My computer was very impressive but I didn't know to do a single thing in any of the image editing software.

Later I chose to use Elements 6. I liked it so much that I upgraded to 9 when it came out. It was not problem to transition over to PS CS5 when the chance arose. Most of Adobes products use the same or similar short cuts and methods for making adjustments. So it was easy to upgrade when I stayed with Adobe.
