Hi all, my name is Tom, been following Ugly Hedgehog for a while now with the daily emails, picked up some great and useful advise along the way. Got myself an entry level Canon 1100D with the 18-55 Kit and a 55-250 EFS f/4-5.6 IS lens as well. Here's a few pics of mine, critisize away, I need all the help I can get :)
My Daughter Kelly, and my Grandson Ethan
Caught this one While out for a walk, a Little Grebe
Loved the Autumn Colours with the light here
My lovely wife April
My beautiful Grandaughter Lily-Mai

must say 1st is good, last is not enough contrast, did you breath on the lens, it is an old trick and far better than filters or photoshop

WOW, that's exactly right, I read about it on another site, tried a few shots, thought this was about the best of a bad bunch. Really impressed with your stuff on your website by the way, real skill to get those motion shots :D

Years of experience, not just guesswork, see, also try vasoline, thin, in a circular motion leaving a clear centre spot, sellotape, crinkled coloured sweet papers (plastic).
Use a Cokin P holder

Oh and if you dampen your finger and wet a centre spot, wipe off then breath on the filter the centre will stay clearer

Never ever put vasoline or any other material directly on your lens. Put it on a cheap filter but not on the lens.

You've got some good images there.Your portraits are well done. The photo of your wife is a decent high key image. The image of your daughter and grandson is warm and you really brought out their eyes. The image of your granddaughter is just precious. Looks like you've learned to focus on the eyes. You caught the duck in a good moment. The autumn color photo has nice bokeh, and catches the eye even though you focused on the little plant in the right front. You've got good composition.
When you look at the downloads, there's a fair amount of noise in the photos that you need to remove. Did you shoot with a high ISO?

Hi, Tom. You have a lovely family. Your #2 photo is gorgeous, a little PP on the others would make them pop.
Welcome to the forum. I think you will get a lot of helpful info here and have a lot of laughs at the same time. Enjoy!

Thank you very much for your kind words, you are absolutely right I did shoot using a high ISO in each and every case, I am just learning about noise reduction at individual channel levels now, I will then re-visit the original images and see if I can clean them up, once again thanks :D
