Here in SE Texas, we live next to a farm / ranch with a pond just on the other side of an 8' wooden fence. Plenty of cows and goats and cattle egrets right up against the fence as they graze. The swamp creatures at the pond are fairly quiet in the winter, but come spring, they are astonishingly loud. It's hard to believe such little creatures can make so much noise. Luckily the house is fairly well sound proofed, but after sunset on the patio can be challenging.
I know what you mean. We had a Koi pond next to our patio and sometimes the tree frogs got ON the house, right outside the kitchen window and called to each other. A very large bull frog screamed at me every time I got near the pond. It was deafening at times but I loved it because it told me spring had arrived. We called them the "Morman Tabernacle Choir".
