Is UHH oversaturated with "Topics"?

I'm sifting though UHH recently and noticed that several topics are, for lack of better term, stale. In other words they have not been contributed too in a very long time and the same posts are still at the top of the list. My question is has UHH become stagnant with too many options for posting images. I've posted before and have almost immediately ended up several pages back within minutes. Other time's I have posted and there has been few comments and almost no views.
Maybe UHH needs to do some house cleaning? Just saying.

Posting to a thread brings it to the top of the list. It can be 5 years old, but if somebody sifting through old threads adds a comment, it becomes number one on the hit parade.
The UHH search feature sucks, but you can use Google to search within UHH.
Different days and different times of day seem to have something to do with the number of posts you see, And remember, UHH is open 24/7 and serves all or atleast most time zones.

It should be against the law to wake up a zombie thread that's laid quiet for more than 36-months.
It should be a membership suspension to ask again about UV filters or any variation of RAW vs JPEG.
Admin should consider increasing the digest links / size for the daily Photo Gallery. That's the most active section, with lots of participation that is another way of phrasing the OP's comment.

Can you clarify? When you say "top of the list", what list are you referring to? And how does the availability of too many options for posting images lead to UHH becoming "stagnant"? Just trying to understand. And I agree that UHH has way to many sections (if that's what you mean)!

The way to avoid old threads is to browse UHH by using "Newest Topics" exclusively. Subscribe to the sections of interest to you (by going to "all sections" at the bottom of this page and scrolling the long list), then click on "newest topics" (top of any UHH page) whenever you feel like logging in. Now your list is in chronological order of when the topic was created - newest first - and includes all your sections of interest in one place.
One more tip: to keep watch of a topic without commenting, simply click "watch" or the "bookmark" button located just above the opening post.
