I am going to Salt Lake for business but will have a day or so free. Can anyone suggest some good photo ops within an hour or two? Thanks

Thanks MT, I figured you would know of some. I think I will have one full day and 1/2 day on Sunday.

There are lots of back roads and sights in that area. Have a nice trip!
And if you are into it, the SLC Temple is nicely lit at night and provides some greap photo ops in good weather.

Good, sometimes it is nice just to drive around and find a few surprises.

Salt Lake has lots of photo opportunities. The Temple and Park City were mentioned already but just going up into the avenues can be quite the adventure. The avenues are north of the temple headed up to the capital building. They stretch far to the east.
There is also the University of Utah close by.

Head west, past the airport, to the Kennecott copper mine and then out to I80 to the Great Salt Lake. The sailboats at the marina can be a fun (and quick) stop. Of course photo ops at Saltair are not to be missed if you can get there. Saltair is one of my favorite places to shoot.

Here are a couple links that may help too.

Visit Antelope Island out in the lake. A great spot to get wildlife pictures.

Go to the Great Salt Lake! I got some fantastic shots on the way out there. There is one area with some old buses/ trolley cars...you'll know it when you see it. People write words out with rocks on the salt flats and you'll see all kinds of interesting things out there. Pull off the highway and walk on the salt flats. You'll see tons of photo ops and sometimes the reflections of the mountains in salt ponds (not the lake but leading up to it) is gorgeous.

Ohhh bummer. Just read in one of the links from above; The rail car and powerhouse were removed on February 18, 2012 by the property owner for safety concerns. But head that way (towards Saltair). Still many photo ops there!

Thank you Lois, leaving for the airport now. I love it when I can plan a business trip with photography and make time for it. Thank you all for the great ideas.
