Does any body own a Sirui Tripod?

I have an Sirui tripod. We had a family visiting us recently. They had a small child with them. This was my fault for leaving the tripod available for the kid to play with. He unscrewed on of the leg adjustments and the leg came off. And I can't get the leg back on. There are two small shims at at the bottom but I can't see to keep them together. Does anybody know how to fix that? I welcome your feedback.

I replaced shims in my Sirui tripod.

My suggestion is to take one off from the other leg, and that will show you how they go back together.

On my Sirui, the legs had indentations the the shims fit over. Mine had two on one side and one on the other. The indentations keep the shims in place. With the leg section inserted through the leg lock, place the shims on the end of the leg section so the shims are flush with the end of the leg section. Holding the shims, insert the leg section back into the leg (there are two ridges that slide betweent the shims), slide the leg lock up and screw it onto the leg. One ridge is larger than the other, so it only goes on one way.

I have two Surui tripods and have been very happy with both. They do however have this unusual shim setup in the legs and if not careful when expanding the legs, a shim can break, rendering the joint unusable . When this happened to me, I contacted Surui customer support, explained the problem and the affected section and they very quickly sent me shims, free of cost, to repair the problem. Info to keep in mind for the future :)

The shims are "Keyed" for the anti rotation leg feature. There are a limited number of permutations to how they can go back in. Check for an on line diagram.
