yep, thanks, worked back then, and still works today
Beautiful shot using a nice old technique that works well but can be messy. Well done

thanks a lot Curmudgeon, as long as you handle it carefully and not get it on your hands or any part of the camera, and camera's lens you're ok. I used the corner of a paper towel to apply it to the filter.
Autofocus, this is a cheap, easy, and effective; a classic technique with a long history. Gives a dreamy effect to your photo; I like it muchly.
The Dreamy effect dates back to when men used "Wildroot Cream Oil" with lanolin to keep their hair in place and were clumsy with fingers on lenses. Now we are reduced to using Vasoline to give that dreamy look; sadly, times change. Would Charlie who was advised to use Wildroot Cream Oil be happy with Vasoline? He was always told to use Wildroot Cream Oil.
At the end of the ad, Fearless-Fosdick the detective encouraged readers to "Get Wildroot Cream-Oil, Charlie!" The character was also featured on promotional tin signs displayed at barbershops. Gone are the Indian Statues and the rotating Barber Poles... Culture slides lubricated by Vasoline.
