My wife and I are heading to Pigeon Forge on the 23rd of this month and I am looking to find some waterfalls in the area that we do not have to hike to, both of us have bad knees. Also any recommendations for things to do in the area. We are going to Dollywood and Cades cove and the Knoksville Zoo and are looking for other things to do in the are that we have not done before. We have been in the are many times but are looking for some new locations to visit. Any suggestion are welcome. Also any photo opportunities that I may get to visit.
There is a waterfall near the gatlinburg visitors center. I believe it’s called cataract falls. Great falls to photography very short easy walk.
Another waterfall right off the road is meigs falls. It is between Townsend and the visitors center not really marked and easy to miss.
The sinks is also right off the main road near metcalf bottoms. Close to meigs falls.
Another great area is the roaring fork motor trail. A few old cabins, creeks, small falls, and maybe a few bears
Enjoy the smokies are a beautiful magical place
Museum of Appalachia, a few miles north of Knoxville. Not a typical museum.

Looked at their site and called and talked with them. Plan on going Tuesday after the Knoxville Zoo. Thanks for the suggestion.
If you don't mind rising early, the view of the sunrise from the top of Clingman's Dome (on top of Old Smokey) is hard to beat. The colors are other worldly. Don't go all the way to the observation deck. The best view is from the parking lot of the visitor's center.
Basil beautiful pic of the smokies.

I used to work on the livestock that live there. Been there quite a few times. I think you will enjoy it.
Grandpaw, it won't be difficult finding waterfalls. Look for the ones with the shortest hike!! Note: Are you going with family? If you're up for adventure, go for the white water rafting on the Little Pigeon River. I warn you, there are some pretty good rapids, but they're fun.
Going through one of them, my wife was in the back and got bumped out of the raft. She did what she was told, though, and floated on her back. The raft behind us picked her up. So....don't be in the last raft!! And don't sit in the back.

If going to Cades Cove, check out Tremont. Take the road going to Cades Cove and the turn to Tremont is just a short distance. Most people drive past without noticing. There is a road, sometimes gravel, and there are great views of the river. Many, many photo opportunities. One of my photography instructors from the university took us there for a field trip. I think he also has a photography business in Townsend where he leads groups to Tremont and Cades Cove. You will not be disappointed.
Also, if you are OK with a longer drive, check out Bald River Falls in Tellico Plains. It is about 50 miles south of Knoxville. You can view it from your car or park and walk to it.
Check it out here:

If you are going to Cades Cove, Wednesday is designated for bicycle and foot traffic only. Vehicles are prohibited.
I second Bald River Falls, beautiful and a very short walk for people with bad knees

If you don't mind traveling a couple of hours over to the Brevard, NC area you will find lots of them. It's known as the Land of Waterfalls.

Map of Waterfalls in Western NC List (Waterfall Hikes) · Bridal Veil Falls · Carter Falls · Catawba Falls · Crabtree Falls · Deep Creek Trail. We did the Highland to Franklin last year, really enjoyed it! Right beside the (very crooked) road!
For waterfalls make sure you bring ND filters to allow longer exposure to have water flowing for a better look
Bald River Falls can be photographed from the roadway you came in on the bridge. Others have given directions so I won't other than to say that the Cherohala Skyway from Tellico Plains, Tennessee to Robbinsville, North Carolina is a delightful drive. See if you can find the ghost in the falls.
