While roaming around in the same general area of where I submitted my first eagle photos I happened to stop my truck to take a photo of the Swan Valley area and the South Fork of the Snake River which flows out of Pallisades Reservoir. While getting ready to take the landscape photo I noticed an adult bald eagle in a tree about 100 yards or so away from me. I sat down to steady my camera and took a couple of photos. Then I tried to get closer to him through the woods separating us. I got to maybe 30 yards and took the photos you see but by then the angle had changed and a branch was covering his face. I started to move closer when he looked straight at me. Within a couple of seconds he didn't so much fly away but leaned forward in to a really windy day and sailed down toward the river. Throughout the day I spotted maybe 8 eagles but none sitting as this one was.

All comments are welcome.

Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look. I like your name for the shots too. With the first I was at his level and no branch in front of his face. Getting closer/lower in the woods put the branch in his face. I was aiming for one more step lower and he would have all been in great view. Then those eyes spotted my face. GONE.

I appreciate the comment. I should be happy with the decent photos I did get but it is like fishing and hunting. There is usually one that got away that consumes our thoughts rather than a stringer full to take home. At least I am seeing eagles and lots of them. I think I saw about 8 eagles yesterday. Pretty darn good for anyone unless you live in SE Alaska.

Bald Eagles are all over the place up here, too!
Seems to be the way of things-the one that got away!

Yes they sure are. I used to see them when I lived in Sequim years ago. Just as pretty a bird there as here for some reason.

Nice shots regardless of the intervening branch. He was definitely keeping an eye on you. And probably thinking the same thing you were!

Thank you Chief for stopping by. Your comments are always welcome. I know I will have other chances. Lots of opportunities in that area.
