I agree with Joe about #2. The water patterns add a great deal of interest.

Thanks, Linda. The light was just right. It sure made that pond look pretty!

I looked up the driveway the other day to see two adults walking 11 or 12 youngins. These creatures are more social than most people realize. The adults take turns watching each other's kids so the other adults can go take a flight, or do whatever a couple of adults like to do. I watch this over and over behind my house.

If my Dad was still alive, he'd probably spend days in my backyard just watching them.

I knew that the mums would babysit, so I looked around for another set of parents. It was a good sized pond, but we saw most of it and only saw one set of adults. I could spend a lot of time watching those ducklings.

Nice captures! That’s a huge flock of ducklings - do you think the Mama duck adopted several from an abandoned clutch of eggs?

I know that Canada geese will sometimes manage a brood of not only their own chick, but others as well. Do you suppose these ducks, what ever they are, so the same. I just can’t imaging this “mother” successfully laid and hatched that many ducklings.

I don't know, Stan. That was my supposition, but I saw no evidence of another pair. Thanks!

I couldn't imagine it either. I asked at the visitor's center, and they didn't know of another pair on the pond. I googled it and found that it is possible. Not probable, but possible.

Precious fits! Fortunately they seem to herd better than children or cats! Very appealing subject.
