DanielB, thanks for asking as I enjoy sharing what I do and how I do it so starting from left to right:

- The camera that I am currently using is a small Fujifilm X-T20 mirrorless 24mp.
- A Fujifilm X mount to Nikon F mount allows me to use a variety of gear.
- A vintage (1960 version) Novoflex bellows provides a convenient way to extend the lenses for varying amounts of magnification. I shoot all of my sessions filling the frame so no cropping is done, just resizing for posting.
- A Nikon F to M42 thread adapter allows me to mount a wide variety of different optics (old and cheap).
- The optic shown, and used for this post, is a Nikon 5X power measuring microscope objective.
- Illumination is provided by vellum tracing paper diffused LED desk lamps.
- The camera rig is mounted on a manual screw drive focus rail to provide rough focus adjustments.
- That is mounted on a motorized digital focus rail that I use to control the camera movement and the number of images taken in a focus stack session.
- The motorized focus rail is mounted on a platform base that can be used in either a horizontal or vertical configuration (I prefer horizontal).
- A sliding worktable (the green thing) moves forward and back, left and right to stage the specimen before the camera as needed.
- A laboratory scissor jack raises and lowers the specimen before the camera as needed.
DanielB, thanks for asking as I enjoy sharing what... (show quote)

The Better Half "suggested" that I sweep the floor of the Family Room so a sweeping I did go..! As I was sweeping, I noticed something crawling across the floor. To my joy, it was a large flying ant so into the pill bottle it went and when my chore was done, I staged it for a focus stacking session with the 5X microscope objective and diffused LED desk lamp illumination. If all goes well, tomorrow I will do a full-body session.

Masterfully done πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸŒπŸ–€πŸ–€

Thanks, UTMike. These ants only have wings when they fly off to start new colonies.
