Sunday afternoon I saw this Robin and its mate carrying worms into my Japanese maple tree which told me they had a nest and babies so I took a look and saw the nest with four tiny babies in it. Also that same afternoon I saw a cat next to my front steps but it didn't hang around when it saw me. Now comes Monday. The robins were nowhere to be seen and I knew something was wrong so I took a look and the nest was empty. My first thought was the cat had come back and gotten them. I was wrong. Tuesday morning as I was beneath the tree pulling weeds all four babies were on the ground dead. My belief is that my local mockingbird is a serial killer.
