This is a follow-up of an issue I mentioned last week. However, this problem has crept into PS 2022 as well as Luminar AI. When downloading from the camera to either program, the photo is darkened considerably. When in any other program like MS Photo manager or Google Photo the photo is as it should be. I have two examples of the same photo below.

These are screen photos taken with my cell phone. Not great quality but I hope you get the idea. I can't get the darkened photo to copy onto desktop because once it gets out of AI or PS it returns to normal lighting. AI has been of little help and I haven't tried PS support yet. Regardless, I find it really weird as something that just started happening out of the blue. Any ideas as to what causing this?

I've never noticed any of my images being darkened by PS.

If you've purchased PSE 2022 or subscribe to the Adobe software, you have a valid vehicle for a technical support 'chat' with Adobe to have them remote into your computer 'see' the issue better than any of us can see from just your phone capture. Start there.

Option 2 is to save-as / export to a DNG format. This should capture any editing done to the image that we might recognize when opening the DNG on our end. Just attach that DNG file to a reply, being sure to store the file.

Are you comparing what you see on your monitor with what you have seen on your camera LCD, if so a number of factors will affect things.

a) the brightness setting of the camera LCD and 'picture controls' used.

b) the colour management of various software programs on your computer.

c) the calibration status of your monitor.

Are you using a color managed workflow from start to finish? If not, accurate color consistency will be very hard to achieve.

Why not just adjust the exposure & export as a jpeg/tiff, etc. ?

This is occurring on the monitor. Color management is a puzzle to me but I haven't made any adjustments from the time everything was working normally. I checked and I am running sRGB. Appreciate all of your interest.

Hi Bob, Is it possible that your computer was made by Lucas!

Now THAT'S funny! (Even if it's waaaayyyy off the topic of photography.)

Only British car owners will understand, though.

I gotta say, Lucas has come a long way. I've got a lot of original, 25 year old Lucas bulbs, switches, relays and other electronics in my Land Rover that still work perfectly in spite of their age and mileage. So far the smoke hasn't leaked out of them.

It was different "back in the day". I've spent an exorbitant amount of time chasing down the Luca gremlins in my '62 Triumph! However, I do appreciate that for the large part the old stuff could be disassembled, repaired, reinstalled and it will continue to work. Today you gotta buy a new component that was made by a computer instead of a human being. The Triumph's wiring diagram is a whole heck of a lot simpler than the Land Rover's, too! One page versus a dozen pages. Two fuses versus 40 or 50 fuses!

It's why Britain never made a TV, couldn't design one to leak oil (ex Lotus owner).

I don't want to high jack this thread either. I was around many English & European autos in the late 50s and through the 60s.
One has not lived until you have tried to start or get the lights to stay on in a Sunbeam Alpine in the rain.
I am enclosing a Lucas 'Roadside Emergency Kit'.

I hate to admit it but my first car was a Renault Dauphine. French electrical was not any better back then.
