Acadia National Park - Desending Cadillac Mtn - Meteor Trails

As I was coming down the Mountain Wednesday evening, I stopped at the Bar Harbor Overlook and shot this image back up the road toward the summit.
After post-processing, I counted 6 meteor trails - 4 on the left and 2 on the right side. One being very short.

Nice shot. Do you recall how long the exposure was?

D850 - Irix 15mm f2.4 lens - ISO 3200 - WB4000 - 30 sec at 2.4. NEF(Raw) - Manual settings. Lens is manual focus. Single frame. Do not enable auto settings.

The next time I will engage High ISO NR and Long Exposure NR. As you open the shadows and increase the exposure in ACR, noise does become apparent. I process the base image through On1 Denoise AI software which does a great job. I think I will try 6400 with those two settings enabled so I can reduce the time the shutter is open to minimize star movement but still capture detail.

Very nice. Clear skies in Maine are awesome! Your photos have made me nostalgic about the times I would hold my then-three-year old daughter as we watched the stars and meteorites on the darkest clearest nights.

Thank you for that kind compliment. It means a lot when an image strikes a chord with someone.
