For these shots especially #1 & #3 what was your aperture setting? Your DOF is too shallow for the entire bird to be in focus and it appears to be a small bird.

Nearly all my shots are at f/6.3. Of course distance from subject affects DOF and I don't know how close you were to the bird but I've never been able to get close enough to produce a shallow DOF. Other than that the shots are nice and someone even mentioned he likes the blurred tail feathers.

I was very close. 5 days before this shot I found this pair of Robins on the river near my home and tossed out a few mealworms which after a bit of suspicion they came down. Over the next few days they got tamer- by the 5th day they were literally eating out of my hand. Not sure if this is acceptable on UHH ?

Of course this is acceptable. I know of no rules that require specified steps in order to get a good shot.
