In and below the peaceful field an age old battle continues. Foxes evict or kill and eat the woodchucks, and sometimes the woodchucks fight back.

Only sighted one kit ten days ago by a hole previously occupied by a woodchuck. Fingers crossed I will get some shots soon.

Nice captures of these two varieties of wildlife.
Looks like the fox in the last pic has a wound on it's left leg.

The fox is positively predatory. Wouldn't want him to be tracking me down!

Yes, the cycles and web of life. My American Foxhound would likely go for a fox. Likely your rodents will return to their holes.

I'm not really too familiar with woodchucks other than what they are. A would on a Fox where I am would likely be caused by a Coyote, Dog, Bob Cat, or Puma. Though it survived the attack, so might might have been from something smaller like a Raccoon, a other Fox, who knows.

I have witnessed them take woodchucks, voles, and squirrels. They are very efficient killers.
