Fireflies are very active in my area this time of year and seem more abundant than usual this year. They are a challenge to me to photograph. The scenes here are captured after dark at about 30 seconds with the shutter left open for 5 to 20 minutes to capture the firefly light trails. You can get a sense of the time from the length of the star trails. They are certainly one of nature's best shows. Equipment is an Olympus omd EM-1 II and a 17mm f1.2 lens.

Very nice set.

I'm confused. 30seconds, 5 to 20 minutes?

Sirvive,
Most interesting (and refreshingly different) photos I've seen posted on the Hog. Nice job

It was confusing; it is the Olympus "Live composite" function. You set the scene exposure to what you need. Once the scene is captured, it continues to composite any added changes in the scene light for as long as you leave the shutter open. It will continue to show you the accumulated result on the screen in increments of the time you originally set for the scene. It is great for light painting, fireworks, and such. I shot wide open and at 1600 ISO.

Great set. I have seen a total of two fireflies so far this season. How sad.

Thank you, sounds like a very interesting function.
