I discovered Ry Cooder in my first year at college. Some few years earlier Van Dyke Parks, for Warner Bros helped create this promotional film. If no one else likes it, I still do.

I just heard a duet he did with Taj Mahal not long ago and found this one when I went looking around for something of more recent vintage as he is my age. This was the first time I had seen a bouzouki played and he does a wonderful job with it (maybe try a slide?). It's of Greek origin but strikes me as maybe a cross between a guitar, mandolin, and banjo. That makes me wonder why I've never seen it used more in bluegrass? Anyway, thanks for the link:

Taj Mahal & Ry Cooder recently released a remake of an album that influenced Ry Cooder greatly; a Folkways recording named Get on Board. I purchased it today. No report yet, but I doubt I will be disappointed.

Check the music from the motion picture "The Long Riders". Ry Cooder all the way. And a very good movie.
