As an introduction to the search menu of the UHH, may I recommend the following:
Particularly for the newer members (and the rest of us too), if you like beautiful Alaska photos (and other places as well), I highly recommend looking at the many photos by a former UHH member, ( blacks2 ). Mikes photos are simply OUTSTANDING!

I may have missed something, but why is he a "former" member?

I must have been influenced by his work, lol! It was his photos that 'made' me decide to visit Alaska!!!

He has not posted in quite a while, and does not respond to messages. He is older (around 98ish), had Parkinson's pretty bad, and was not in good health the last time I heard from him. He has not posted in the last couple of years that I could find. I (and others) would love to hear from him...

We have lost so many UHH members to illness and death in the years I've been a member (the most recent that I know of is Brent Harder). Sad, but inevitable given the average age here

I just hope the little reminder will inspire members to visit the MANY older posts. They are outstanding sources of information, and inspiration!
Another 'trick' that I use: When I see a particularly (to me) interesting photo/location or tip, I make a note in my computer, placing pertinent information a folder titled 'TRIP TIPS, another named PHOTO TIPS, subdivided into individual folders by state/country or information. Copying and pasting/editing the pertinent information.

I know Brent's passing really hit me hard. The photos I posted on his memorial page, I had often thought of sharing with him. Now I wish I had. None of us have the promise of tomorrow...
