Occ. when viewing photos in the UHH gallery that I find a photo that is so special I save it for later review. Usually it goes into file explorer, where I can view at my liesure and now it goes into PS. It takes so much longer to open this file. What happened and how can I fix it? Also on occasion I find a photo from UHH in LR where I have then delete.

Might I suggest that you simply bookmark the post right here on UHH. There is a large button at the upper left corner of the post marked Bookmark. That will save it to your account here on UHH.

Choose "Save As" and choose a location like a new folder on your desktop marked UHH Favorites.

The Bookmark button is at the upper left corner of the first post in the thread. It will ask for a title for the bookmark.

To look at your bookmarks it's useful to have the bookmark button at the top of every page. To enable that, go into your profile and scroll down to custom settings. Find "Show Bookmarks link on all pages, top links" and check the box.

Either select how a file is opened, or make your photo viewer the default option for jpgs. To select how it's opened, right click (Windows) and select "Open With" then whatever viewer you are using. I don't know the sequence on a Mac, but I suspect it's something similar. While in the "Open With," you may also select the default program for opening like photos.

What do you do that makes it do what it does?

I tried to bookmark a post a while back and UHH wouldn’t allow it. I have 9 pages of bookmarked posts. Do you know if there is a limit to the number of bookmarked posts one can have? I probably need to clean house . . .

Another option is to create a personal page and simply copy/paste the url of the topic you want to keep.

Go to My Profile, My Pages.

Here's what mine looks like: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user-page-list?usernum=25659

Personal pages are viewable to anyone, so be careful

Hmmmmm. I’ll start doing that. I’ve been sending the link to my personal email and archiving the links in my “Photography” folder. Thanks, Linda!

When I went to my pages, I was happily surprised to find some I'd kept (such as PP Forum history). I tend to throw stuff away faster than most people

Another benefit to My Pages is each has its own url that you can share with others. DirtFarmer has many tutorial and info pages that he shares: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user-page-list?usernum=54875

To see if a member has created any "user pages," click on user name. The link is below the rest of the displayed info.

I think there is a limitation to number of user pages one person can have. Something like 100.

But I recommend using them. If you happen to come across a subject on which you have an opinion (I know it happens rarely here on UHH) and you get tired expounding your detailed answer to all and sundry, you can generate a user page. A simple URL will do your expounding for you. And your expositions can be used on other forums. You're not limited to UHH.

If there is such a limit, you can use Linda's technique. And if you have more than 100 bookmarks you can consider putting them all into one user page. Just save the URLs as text in your user page.

I did run up against another limitation once. A user page is limited to something like 15,000 characters. My 14-page tome on multiple writes of jpgs would not fit in a user page so I had to put it onto a different website.

To save an image from UHH, I click the download link then, in Windoze, right click the image and click "Save image as." Then you can use the save file dialog to specify the folder where you want the image saved. This makes it very simple to retrieve.

I must confess, and hope that no one will take offense, that I have a large number of UHH images saved on my PC. They are all in a couple of folders and I like to review them occasionally.

I still use Picasa to catalog images. It catalogs all image files on my hard drive and SSD automatically. Thus I have fast access to all of my imagery. Also use it for basic adjustments of my own work.
