Hello
I received a Hoya Fusion One clear filter (E-bay) today, and it appears to be uncoated. Reflected light shows no color cast from a coating of any type. My Hoya One Fusion One anti-static polarizer shows multi-coatings, as it should. I am well aware that the higher end Hoya’s and B+W filters are commonly counterfeited. Do any of you have a Fusion One clear filter that have obvious multi-coatings on them.
Thank you
The Hoya Fusion series filters do not appear to be widely offered in the U.S. B&H Photo doesn't stock them at all. Adorama lists some limited sizes of Fusion, but shows them "discontinued". Fusion filters are available from Amazon Direct.
We appear to have the Hoya EVO series, instead. EVO "Antistatic" are what both B&H and Adorama offer as an alternative to Fusion.
Fusion now... They no longer list EVO there! So I am guessing that Fusion are being rolled out to replace EVO. (Hoya has always made a confusing array of different filter series and seems to change name conventions every couple years just to keep us scratching our heads.)
According to the Hoya website, there are three different "Fusion" filters...
According to that site, all three have 18 layer "nano" multi-coatings.
Looking at the photos of the filters on the Hoya website, the multi-coatings on the clear protector versions are not apparent.
Apparently Fusion and EVO filters are not the same series. Fusion appear to be about half the price of EVO:
This is the first I've heard of filters being counterfeited.
