In 2007 my church choir made a concert tour of the British Isles. We made an overnight in Chester before going back into Wales to sing a concert in Llandudno. We arrived in Chester too late for me to enter the Cathedral (bummer!) but I did manage to get some photos of the city.

Chester's harbor silted up and so sea traffic moved to Liverpool. Thus there was no need to tear down old buildings and put up new ones. Therefore all the old buildings. The gate was built to celebrate Queen Victoria's golden jubilee in 1897.
