Try one, you might change your mind?

Yeah, I tried one at an electronics store a few years ago. The feet didn't do anything special at all.

Feet on a monopod is mostly a gimmick. With a bit of practice you can learn to keep the monopod steady. If you need more stability and support, then use a proper tripod.

I strongly suggest that you add the iFootage Cobra 2 series of monopods to your list. They come in aluminum and carbon fiber version and cost between $100 and $200 at B&H, etc. I have one and absolutely love it. I use it primarily with my Ricoh Theta V 360 camera for 360 walk thru tours. And just last night I used it with the substantial Sony AX100 video camera to record a 90 minute concert performance. It was rock steady.

There is no way on Gods Green Earth I would trust a monopod with feet standing alone to hold any camera !!!or a cup of coffee for that matter.
Thats a sure recipe for disaster!!!

I really need your help!! I purchased a Magnus VPH-20 Video Pan & Tilt Fluid Head Video head for my Manfrotto 290 Monopod. Works great but now I want to upgrade the bottom of the Monopod and add some feet to it so I can use it as a Mini Tripod but the problem I am having is that the last tube on the Monopod is 5/8" OD and I cannot find any feet with this small opening. The bottom of the aluminum tube is hollow and there is no way to add a nut that will hold the feet tight when it is screwed into the tubing.

I have seen feet for Monopods ranging in price from $25.00 to $50.00. Now the problem I am having is that I have 5 Monopods that I would like to ask you about and get your ideas to see which one would be the best to purchase and which one would stand up by itself with the camera on it.
1.) Neewer Monopod NE10091158
2.) Oben ACM-2400L
3.) Sirui SUP 204SR
4.) Benro 38 FD
5.) Manfrotto Element Mll

Please let me know if you have used any of these Monopods and how they have worked for you as a standing up mini tripod.
Thank you for your help.

A mono pod, is just that, a mono pod. I do not see how adding feet to it will make it sturdier. If it is not sturdier, is not needed.

I've seen guys use them in crowds at a wedding party, left standing alone. They must have been crazy multimillionaires. I WOULD NEVER do that.

The consensus of opinion over the years is if you are looking to buy a new camera, mount your old one on a monopod with legs.
I have a Bogen Monopod 3231-1, (Manfrotto 134SSB) with legs that can be added on. It is a rock solid monopod which cost ~$150 30 years ago.
I would never trust it with anything bigger than a flash head. You could get away with a smartphone or a small point & shoot indoors.
Outdoor with any amount of wind and it's done!

There is no such RELIABLE thing as a "monopod standing up mini tripod" ! I have used MANY monopods - even made my own. For me, the most important aspect of a monopod is how short in can collapse to for versatility. Another important aspect is how easy/fast you can change height. This is one I would recommend for collapsing short - https://www.ebay.com/itm/313324245607?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l9372

For fast operation, look at this one - never mind the "feet" .....https://www.ebay.com/itm/393617435350?hash=item5ba56d6ad6:g:09QAAOSwKS1iRsIz

I have an older version of the iFootage. It is very quick and easy to adjust but occasionally when I’m doing a lot of turning to track something it will collapse. As for the feet, they don’t do much when shooting and I’d never leave a camera on it but it could be useful as a flash stand in a pinch. I have found the legs alone useful as a tabletop tripod but my go to for that is my Platypod.

Personally I think monopods are a waste of good money.
But, if you must buy one, make sure you also buy the Wimberley MH-100 head for it along with a RRS quick release plate.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.
OH, I do own a monopod, and I believe it is a very good one, for when I use it. It is a MAD49A Benro. A very nice one for the price. You should look it up.

I have a QSX VersiPod 2 Monopod/Walking stick. It is not a gimmick. It has 3 legs that fold out and it is actually quite stable, for something so light. It's not intended for large or heavy cameras, but I have used it quite successfully with bridge cameras and my Canon M50, and it's also a great speedlite stand. I've also used it numerous times as a walking stick.

I agree with you. If you need more stability or support, use a proper tripod. But if you have a tool that will get the job done, like the VersiPod, use it, but use it properly. Mounting a heavy camera on it would definitely be a recipe for disaster.

I have to disagree esp. if one is NOT using a stabilized camera... Everyone has different degrees of shakiness and I know that my keeper ratio improved with monopod use... (2) velcro straps wrapped around pod can also be used to strap pod vertically or horizontally to fence rail, post etc... This technique is VERY useful if not carrying a tripod.

Why not look into a carbon fiber tripod instead. I'm very happy with my 2 benro tripods from B and H

I have tried a lot of monopods (teach PHT) and settled on the Sirui SUP 204SR type but it is the carbon fiber model Sirui P-324SR Carbon Fiber Photo/Video Monopod. They are highly modular! The feet are good if you are just sitting and want to rest the setup against your leg. It does provide more stability than without the feet and especially useful with the big whites. I have used it with all of the big Canon lenses 600 f4, 500f4, 400 DO, 100-400 and 100-500. It is really nice with the R5 and R100-500 IS L. I often do not use the feet when using the last combo. The relatively new Wimberley MonoGimbal Head - MH-100 is the best I have tested. "The Wimberley MonoGimbal Head is the first and only of its kind: It is a monopod specific gimbal head for telephoto lenses." It easily handles all of the big whites and like all Wimberley products is top notch. - Rob@snphotos.com

Bh Photo Video has a "deal of the day" on the Sirui P326SR, max height 59", includes removable minitripod feet $150.
The Sirui has a "rubber bumper" on the bottom of the minitripod feet which I found allowed you to put your foot a tripod foot leg and steady the monopod without damaging the feet. Even with the tripod feet that can support the extended monopod (Sony a7 with Sigma 100-400) I would always keep a hand on the monopod.
