Those mask restrictions never made much sense to me. I mean - you Absolutely Must wear a mask - Unless you are eating or drinking. The last time I spent a couple hours in the airport I bought a cup of coffee, and spent a couple hours pretending to be sipping on the empty cup. Same thing with air travel. Last fall I flew to Iceland and spent as much time as possible eating & drinking.

No mask & I survived (so far) just fine.

So you'd have been OK with the person sitting next to you WITHOUT a mask telling you that they were suffering from Covid, - hacking, sneezing, & blowing their nose, etc.?? - Just Curious!!

I would have moved if possible and/or put my mask on. Anyplace that did screening would probably turn away anyone that admitted they had an active case of Covid.

FYI, the typical "made in china" mask is mostly useless. To be effective, you need a N95 mask. I have a supply of N95 masks. (the American standard is N95, the chinese standard is KN95)

Why surgeons wear a mask in the operating room? To protect them and the patients. I was a surgeon for almost 40 years and I had only one infection in a patient during that time and I bet it was not me who caused the infection. Masks protect and I know they are inconvenient but having Covid-19 is not a good choice. I have seen several of my friends die with the disease, some of them physicians.

Many people believe that vaccination is "government control" and many others are afraid to be vaccinated because there have been some complications with the vaccine, not many of them by the way. People with immune deficiency diseases, cancer patients who had radiation or chemo and patient with respiratory diseases SHOULD wear a mask for their protection. If I have to travel I would be very uncomfortable if I do not wear a mask and I have avoided air and bus traveling for the past two years. I agree with freedom but I use common sense.

Now we have a new Omicron variant and according to health authorities there are many new cases although I have no information about those cases or which states are more prone to have the epidemic. Here in Florida, at least in South Florida, wearing a mask is not that common anymore and fortunately there are no reports of an increase in patients with the disease. I keep on using the mask in ALL public places except if I go to a park or any other open spaces. I have full vaccination and a booster but I have seen others like me who got the Omicron variant because they did not wear a mask. Better be safe till all this is over and that is only my personal opinion.

I love your photograph and I love the theme of FINALLY not being forced to wear masks. Your model by the way is a beautiful young lady.

Forgive me if I am wrong but you wore a mask in the operating room as did everyone else there because you were operating on someone and that would be openings through wounds or incisions. You forgot to state the entire operating room was most likely heavily cleaned and disinfected to prevent any germs from being there to begin with. Before the surgery you scrubbed the daylights and dirt from your hands and then wore surgical gloves, gown and a mask to prevent any other germs from being transmitted in the OR. I am sure you did all of this as best you could to prevent any infection and I applaud you for it.

But airports, airplanes, restaurants, schools, job sites and the like, in other words, the real world, are not scrubbed and disinfected. General rules that sound great on the surface are useless from my point of view. I am/was forced to wear a mask when I entered a restaurant. But once I sat down the mask came off. Numerous other patrons walked past my table and touched the table, wait staff who may have been a carrier of the virus wiped down the table but of course quite possibly sneezed on the table before leaving. Yes they may have been wearing a mask but they also scratched their eyes, nose, mouth etc. with their hands. This type of situation happened all across the country. People with masks still touch other things with their hands which have touched other parts of their body.

I am NOT for forced vaccinations. Having said that I am now on my 2nd booster shot only because of my age. Otherwise I would refuse to get a vaccination. But now that I am vaccinated I find out I can STILL get the virus many times, can STILL pass on the virus many times. Tell me just what good were the vaccinations?

Dr. Fauci told us children were the least likely to get the virus and yet my grandchildren needed to be vaccinated and still wore a mask at school. So much for going along with what science dictated.

Have a wonderful day,

Dennis
