I don't remember what the smaller bird was and here's the story.
The white bird had caught a fish and was sitting on the shore about
to eat it. The larger Frigatebird saw the chance to steal an easy meal.
The Frigatebird started to harass the smaller bird and finally grabbed
the smaller bird and flew out over the water with it. The shaking and the terror
that the smaller bird must have been feeling finally caused it to
give up its meal. I was fortunate enough to have captured that moment.
The second photo shows the smaller bird released and a swarm of Frigatebirds
going after the fish that was just dropped.
The scene is in The Galapagos Islands.
Wow, so cool to get this sequence. The frigate birds almost look dystopian! I believe that's an unlucky tern there...
Excellent action sequence!
Nice capture. If they get in the water, it's curtains for those klepto-parasitic birds.
