Hi, I have an old picture of my husband’s grandfather on his wheat thrasher. I would like to get it restored and printed. Where would be a good place to do this. Thank you. Sorry it’s upside down.

You didn't post the original so nobody can do anything.

Actually that’s a traction engine pulling a plow. I think that may be a Holt, which was powered by an internal combustion engine, most likely kerosene. The man standing on the plow would use the levers sticking up behind him to raise the plow out of the ground when turning at the ends of the field.

There are a lot of people here who would do it for you for free. You need to figure out how to post it so someone can download it. I'd recommend you take the print to a reputable photography shop if you have one in town and have them scan it to digital format then upload the digital image and remember to upload the file.

I really don’t want your options of the photo or any criticism. All I want is a suggestion for where I can get the photo restored and a print for my husband’s bday. Geesh, you guys are so touchy! Chill, it’s just photography and should be fun. Won’t be coming back here for advice very soon!

Scan it and print the scanned image.
I have many old photos that I have scanned, having the scanner "enlarge them" 2 or 3 times using the scanner software at maybe 400 pixels per inch. This allows me to make bigger prints, especially if the original print is like 2x3 inches.
If you don't have a scanner, does a friend?
I can't recommend a company to do this as I've never used one.

Create a new topic with your request and ask for members to edit it for you. Browse to the JPEG file of your photo, select the "Store original" box, then "Attach". Members will then be able to download your file, do an edit, and post it back so you can then download and print it.

It is unclear what you mean by restored. Other than a few smudges the image looks to be in good condition. If you’re concerned about the sepia coloring, many old photos were sepia toned. The image could be reproduced in black & white. I will be pleased to retouch and produce a reprint in true black & white, either the same size or larger, for you if you will either scan the image and email me the file, or mail the original to me. I will return your original with the retouched copy. Check your Private Messages for my email and postal address.

Stan

Here's a shot at the restoration. You should be able to send the file to any on-line printer and get it reproduced.

Although I've never used such a service, there are several available. Get an estimate first. I would say ask for a sample, but, of course, they would show you excellent examples.
