If youve now "settled in" a bit with your new-ish OM-1 please PM me. Mega huge thanks in advance.
I have not used the OM-1 so far. From what I have read or seen on other sites and articles, most folks are very happy with the camera. I have read that folks do not think there is a two stop improvement in ISO noise.
Just a note from the sidelines.
Do you know that if they still make them in Vietnam? I wish JIP doesn't move the factory.

I have just posted a similar request... maybe some useful info from actual users will be helpful... I have an EM-1 at present but want another body with viewfinder.. I hope we get some good responses without getting into the flame wars..

What I have read in other forums and seen from my trusted YouTube reviewers is mostly positive. It is the best and last effort with Olympus on the nameplate. The next models will be named differently.
Panasonic's Lumix GH6 is pretty phenomenal, too. It is video-centric, but the stills side of it is no slouch. It has the best out-of-the-box color I've seen from any video camera that records in V-LOG mode.
Micro 4/3 is not dead... The OM-1 is out of stock in several locations, including Adorama and B&H. The GH6 is still available from both.
I've used the OM-1 (switching from EM1X) for several weeks and so far, have taken approx. 4,000 photos with it - mostly birds and insects.
It's a great camera for wildlife photography, in part due to the new sensor and much improved (much faster) processor, which combine to make a huge difference for birds (or for this matter, insects) in flight, in particular. The EVF also is much improved compared to older models. As well, the new battery lasts much longer than in previous models, a significant advantage in field situations. Not to mention improved weather-sealing, which was already tops in the EM1X, EM3, etc.
I am not sure that folks who do mostly still/indoors photography will find all this to be worth the expense, but for wildlife photographers the camera is definitely worth considering.
Some OM-1 cameras currently have a few glitches - in my case, sometimes shutting off without reason and, of course, always at the worst time. But OMSD promises to fix these issues in a firmware to become available at the end of this month, so cross fingers.
Here is a link to a micro 43 site that may have additional hands' on user information about the OM-1

May I ask if OM Digital still make the OM-1 in Vietnam like the other Olympus?
Mine was made in Vietnam, no idea about others.
