What is a double download??

Erroneous affectionate term for clicking on "download" under the picture and then clicking on a portion of the image where the "+" symbol is located (via the mouse) in order to further enlarge the image.
Erroneous because the picture has already been downloaded and clicking the "+" sign simply enlarges the
already downloaded image. The magnified image is not a second image that is downloaded. There is only one download.
Enlarged download would be a more appropriate term.
Don't believe me? Click download for a picture, disconnect from the internet, click the "+" sign over the image.
The enlarged image did not get downloaded, the internet is disconnected...

Ok it’s an erroneous term. That makes sense. I understand.

So, a single download won't get you the enlarged image.
Double download is a term used quite a bit in the Photo Gallery. It seems to work OK for folks looking at pictures, not so much for those folks talking about them.
The devil made me do it.

Was this to be posted April 1 versus 11? (Is that a Double Fool's Day??)

Well, the
entire (FULL SIZE) image is downloaded when one clicks "download" and placed in the browser's cache, just displayed smaller by the browser in order to fit the browser window.
Clicking on the image with the "+" sign magnifier glass is a
browser function that enlarges the image currently displayed, if it is of sufficient size to do so. Another <bigger> "copy" of the image is NOT download when the magnifying glass is used.
Terms get created by people without complete knowledge of how something works (based on perception), then
everyone runs with the new term. (Must be the "official term".)
Too bad the first person to coin the phrase didn't use "winklesniting".
That would be very humorous.
Call it whatever you want, this is
how it actually works.

Meaning of A Rose by Any Other Name
Simply, it means the names of things cannot affect what they actually are. This line is, in fact, very profound, suggesting that a name is just a label to distinguish one thing from another. It neither has any worth, nor gives true meaning.

True, but names can affect one's
comprehension of what something is....
