Circa 1969. Actor Al Lewis aka "Grandpa Munster" and me. Photo taken at Universal Studios. I was 13 years old and getting ready to start 8th grade. I saw Grandpa walking towards me and I smiled. He looked at me and said turn around and look at the camera. As I did he pulled my ears. LOL I don't remember who took the photo in my family but I am glad they did.

Great memories!! I knew there had to be another youngster like me on this site. We're about the same age.

I met Al Lewis at his restaurant called โ€œGrandpaโ€™sโ€ in Manhattan. It was about 1984 he was sitting in the back doing the books. It was an off hour and we were the only ones in the place. I went over to say hello and he seemed so happy to have someone to talk to. I have a photo somewhere. Not as good as yours of course.

GAS great story! Everything I have read about "Grandpa" says he was quite a guy. Fun, engaging and the real deal. I remember seeing him on a TV show that was shot at his restaurant and they were interviewing him. He had a contagious laugh. :) Cheers.

Good stuff! I was fortunate to be born and raised in Thousand Oaks, California. It was the home of "Jungleland" which was a zoo of sorts but home to many of the movie star animals including Cheetah and Leo the Lion. Jungleland was owned by Louis Goebel. His son Gene was my Dad's age. Gene and his wife Annabelle lived down the street from us so we got to go see the behind the scenes stuff all the time. One of my best friend's Dad was a wild lion tamer and his Mom a trapeze artist (she is still alive!!!). Here is a photo from 1968. I am the kid eating the apple. The station wagon was owned by the lion tamer (Chet Juszyk). His son Mike is on the far left standing and was also a child extra in a Disney movie with animals. Those were good childhood years and I grew up in a very magical town.

Hi Joe... the ears stayed out for a couple of years. I finally grew into them! My Grandpa never grew into his. They were HUGE. LOL Probably from his 7 boys tugging on them. :)

Thanks for rolling in. Be safe.
