I actually called Nikon and they will cover the sensor cleaning under my warranty(after I ragged at them for 15 minutes). I do "have" to pay the shipping and insurance though to New York. That'll be forty bucks. It is boxed up and going tomorrow. They claim a 7 to 10 day turn around. That's 7 - 10 days too much! As far as I'm concerned.

I'm thoroughly disgusted with this whole situation and Nikon. I should have stayed with my D3100 and not listened to all the hype(bullsh*t) about this new FF camera. These cameras obviously weren't QC tested very much at all before the release. Now, as usual, the American Consumer takes it in the back side.

Wait, wait, wait! How quickly we turn against Nikon. Obviously they're sitting on a problem here. And obviously they need to take care of it. I think we're going to see them solve this and somehow get past it, but sure hope everyone doesn't just drop them and run to (I can't say it...Canon). If we just think of how many things "could" go wrong, and how few things "do" go wrong, maybe we don't have to feel so bad.
I really doubt, Don, that they want to "stick it" to the American market. I'm sure they LOVE the American market (wouldn't you?).

Yes Danillo, I kinda agree with you. But, I just feel that there are much more than a few isolated instances of this problem. Plus they(Nikon tech support) also stated, "We are admitting no fault or problem with the D600, but we will repair your problem under the warranty." Hmmmmm.

I don't think Nikon made a deliberate move to s@#$w anybody. However one must SERIOUSLY question Nikon quality now because I do agree with you that there must have been almost zero testing of this camera before it's release.

I don't blame you for being pissed off Don. If I had just plunked down $2,096.95 for a camera with this obvious fault I would be ready to strangle someone.

Absolutely Don, this is definitely NOT an isolated incident. I've seen several forums, as well as UHH, and there are a LOT of people having this issue. IMO Nikon feels it is too early to go saying stuff without getting to the bottom of the problem. I just got done listening to a couple attorneys talking about if you shoot an intruder in your home...they said the WORST thing you can do is talk to the cops about what happened. If I was Nikon I wouldn't want some bonehead on the phone telling customers stuff when they don't have all the info.
I'd be pissed if I was you, too. But it'll all work out. And I agree with Wabbit, Nikon should pay for shipping. Rag 'em about it, Don.

Really sorry you are having this problem. The mantra of any sucessful manufacturing company is zero defects and Nikon has been near perfect from it's first product. Alas, s#*t happens and now they should man-up and solve the problem and they should pay the shipping for repairs on a new camera that is being sent to them to fix what is obviously a factory defect.

its all about quality control;Nikon, like all the rest, are building their cameras out of Japan, wherever it is cheapest:their once legendery build quality is suffering accordingly.
Its absolutely disgusting, the mechanics/electrics of current cameras should now be bullet proof, its all down to cost and profit and as usual the punter suffers!

Don, I had a problem with my D3100 it was also under warranty. Nikon did not pay for my shipping either,(they never offered to), and they have had it over a month.I would really like to have my camera back. Calling them AGAIN today. Good luck to you on this adventure.

Don, I am out of the loop on this. I have been looking at getting a 600 too. Did this problem start right away or just show up?
