I have been watching a Great Horned Owl sitting on her eggs, high in a tree for the last two months. The eggs hatched about two weeks ago and here are some shots over that time period.
I guess we eventually became friends because she would flirt and wink at me.
Hubby was perched on tree limb about 90 yards either sleeping or keeping an eye on her nest. I was told that on a couple of occasions he chased away some RWBs that were harassing the nest. It was tough trying to shot between heavy branch cover and the constant wind. He was always just an unmoving black silhouette and very, very difficult to see. I took me two months to find him.
Everything is hand held.

Thanks, shooting with a very long lens in the wind was not easy but sometimes I could find a branch to rest it on.
I appreciate your comment.

They blend in to their cover well. Great set.
