I had a couple of yellow iris over a month ago but they were in the middle of a milkweed plant and hard to photograph unless I wanted to pick them or destroy the milkweed.
Well this last week I got several buds in the Purple Iris planted area but a couple of days ago while the yard guy was using a weed eater around the old swing set some debris blasted the one just starting to open off. Then this morning I had one open and it is a pale purple/lavender, in the past these plants have had royal purple, lavender and royal purple with bright yellow/gold blooms.
Today is overcast so the lighting is "cloudy bright" with shadows very had to find so the whole yard is basically one big light box. I was aiming at bringing out the veins and texture so the color is a bit more saturated than the flower really is.

Nice composition & amazing depth of field. Nice Work!

Thanks you. I shot it from a bit over 6' so the f/11 would get nearly the whole bloom in the focus zone. Plus it was a lull in the breeze so little motion other than me.
robertjerl your photo is impressively crisp and wonderfully colorful.
I was thinking, the photo being a flat, one plane, image we can see sharp detail of the flower in full. When viewing the actual in-the-garden flower our eyes are not able to view all of the flower in sharp detail at once.

Thank You
Also in editing I can tweak contrast etc. to make the details show better.

Thanks a lot. Sun just came out and now two open blooms. Finish my soup and get a few shots of them.
