I am fairly new on this site and really like it, almost to the point of addiction! There are 100's of genuine people out there who are very helpful and I learn something new each time I visit.
There is one criticism I have, there are a very small group of members who use the site for commercial reasons, there are a couple here in the UK.
I find this rather worrying or is it just me?

John,
You don't have to read the posts from those who use the site for commercial reasons.
As to the professional photographers on UHH - I have found that while they don't make it a secret that they earn (or have earned) a living with their photogrphy, they also are more than willing to help those who have not reached that level of expertise.
So, no, I don't find it worrying at all, I can put up with a bit of commercialism, and welcome the professional photographers here!

The pros have been willing to help and explain their photos for as long as I have been involved. In my eyes, they are more than welcome here.....ANYTIME !

Personally, I have never considered that the 'Pro's' on this site are trying to promote themselves or their business's.
I really look forward to reading their responses to Topics posted, even though I know they have responded to similar questions previously.
If it wasn't for these guys (and they know who they are) this site would be a much poorer place to participate in.
Their willingness to share their vast knowledge on the subject is in my opinion nothing short of breathtaking.

I have found the pros on this site extremely helpful...and some have offered their services..nothing wrong with that ..there's one that offers to repair your camera for a reasonable price ..no different than if we were to go to a group meeting and offering your card..I sometimes promote doing a shoot for my photography services when im in a group meeting.I don't do it on the site because we all live in different states and countries...I love having both amatures hobbyists and pros on this site..we get to learn so much better that way..

WOW, I find the information, suggestions, and critiques by the Pros to be exceptional and extremely important. My goodness, information from the Pros (like CaptainC, MT Shooter, and others) is how one learns, especially amateurs who are trying to do their best to read and absorb all the professional pointers that are offered on this site.

None of the Professionals seem to be overbearing or condescending - they just offer their help from a professional viewpoint - what more can one ask when trying to learn all the different aspects of the numerous categories of photography? Sit back and hopefully relax, enjoy, and absorb all you can! I have learned a great deal and hope to keep learning more and more!

Thank you, Professionals, for all your time and advice you devote to UHH for the amateurs, newbies, and inexperienced.

I have found that the Real Pros are a fountain of knowledge and are the ones with the most patience when answering questions. Wish I could work for several of them as I think my skills would be greatly sharpened by that exposure.

It's not the pros you need to worry about on a site like this. It's the know-it-alls and the mouthy opinionated members you need to deal with. Fortunately at this moment the UHH forum has been a delight to read and participate in. I see an occasional coarse statement or a few harsh words to newbies once in a while but they are nothing like they used to be. Just ignore the sometimes harsh statements and take note of the more friendly advise. Sometimes a forum like this can form little clicks too. I've seen it here. I just ignore them and grow some thicker skin for protection. LOL
