Thank you!

You don't want to miss this:
https://www.newfoundlandlabrador.com/top-destinations/twillingateFrom land you can view icebergs from high up or down by the water at Twillingate Park. There are also various ways to view the icebergs from large or small boats.
A few pictures I took while there, plus a bird from the trip home. That little bird flew along side the ferry for a few hours before collapsing on the deck. He came around after an hour or so.

Gros Morne National Park is nice. The Arches on the west coast are interesting. Are you driving?
In 2005 I drove from Port aux Basques to St. Barbe, Newfoundland on my way to a reunion at Cartwright, Labrador. I stayed at the D&R B&B in the village of Doyles. Near there I ate dinner at a place called Chicken Villa. The next day I had lunch at Corner Brook on TCH-1.
My photos of my brief drive up Newfoundland can be viewed Here:

Please post photos when you come back!
I was born there, hence my handle: GoofyNewfie.
Haven't managed to get back there in 55 years.
Nice pic's Bill & David!

Unfortunately, August is probably late in the year to see icebergs.
We visited Newfoundland in June a few years ago, mainly touring the Avalon and Bonavista peninsulas. We say lots of great scenery, geological variations, the occasional wildlife, and found plenty of good food. I'd say the highlights were:
If you're in St. Johns, visit Cabot Tower for magnificent views. This is the site where Marconi received the first transatlantic radio signal in 1901.
Take a boat tour of the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve to see whales, and in the Seabird Sanctuary of Witless Bay, the nesting puffins, seagulls, common murres, razorbills, kittiwakes, and possibly bald eagles. Witless Bay is the largest puffin nesting site in North American.
Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve has free-roaming sheep and Bird Rock, a 300 foot tall stack of sandstone that is the 3rd largest nesting site for gannets in North America.
Dedicated whale watching tour on small boat to see them up close. We took ours in a small town called Trinity.
There are many areas where scenery is great.
Here's a website that tells the best times in different locations to see icebergs, whales and seabirds:

Thanks David. I plan to fly to St Johns and rent a car while there.
Hmm, I wonder what the former Naval Air Station in Argentia looks like now?

I was wondering the same thing. I was stationed there in 1960 flying WV navy aircraft in the seaward extension of the DEW line. Great experience and lived in the tallest building north of Boston on the North American Continent (8 story BOQ).

Two things: if you are a photographer AND a foodie, do not miss a stop at Merchant Tavern (chef owned) in St. John’s. One of Anthony Bordain’s stops in 2018.
Second, if you want the inside scoop, join usservas.org, a travel organization promoting peace and cultural understanding. After joining, you will have access to list of locals in Newfoundland. They host up to two overnights in their home and you can also find a day host who can advise or meet you and show you all the secret places. All this can be set up by e-mail in advance.
US Servas: the most awesome, almost-free travel organization with hosts throughout our world!
I hope you have amazing photo opportunities. Don’t forget the locals, they know best.

This is awesome. Thank you Eileen.
I second the suggestion of Gros Morne. It's beautiful. While there, remember they're on the half hour!
I hope you are able to find transportation. This is "Come Home in 2022". Suggestions have been made to rent a UHaul, or call local car dealerships to see if they would rent. Aside from that, great suggestions have been made. Downtown St. Johns is a lovely place with much nightlife.(at least pre covid). The colorful homes just above downtown make beautiful pictures, as well as the magnificent church on the hill. Brigus is a beautiful small community with a lovely little bay surrounded by houses. (but so is all of Newfoundland). If you want to drive, the Avalon Peninsula south of St Johns has multiple opportunities for photographs, as well as whale sightings from shore. There are tours out in the bay for bird and whale watching. Cape Race Ecological Preserve is very stark, but many opportunities for photographing the more than unusual rock formations. I have wanted to go to Fogo Island, there are many beautiful pictures of that place and a few places to stay outside of the VERY expensive Fogo Island Inn. I guess it all depends on what you want to capture when you are there. The coastline is immense, there are 18,000 miles of coastline when including Labrador. I apologize, these are vacation pictures, not the best quality. When you go, you will want to return again.
A bay in Brigus
An Outport along the Irish Loop
A view Driving in the Cape Race area
A view from the Western side....It's beautiful wherever you go
