Starting with a Baby Brownie on my sixth birthday, I get as much pleasure, playing with new cameras, as in actually taking photos. My latest edition is a Nikon P510. which I am comparing to my previous Lumix XZ28.

Wow! that's so good! My mum wanted to get her first computer around that age. She never did in the end, but always had a keen mind until the day she died - 2 weeks after her 95th birthday.

Glad you're still having fun. I have the P510 and really enjoy it after getting rid of the 5100 which weighed a ton with lens.

Welcome to the Hog, great camera choice, I am seriously thinking of getting one as well, love the zoom on those babies.
Thank you for your kind comments. My son urged me to introduce computing into my printing business, in 1990. I had to sell all my typesetting equipment, in order to afford a Mac+, Laser Printer and software ($12,000 worth in those days in Brisbane), and learn very quickly, as my son had only 3 days to get me started, before returning to Sydney. My business surged from then on until my retirement aged 80, but I still love computers, especially my latest iMac, and I intend to purchase one of the new iPad Minis.
So far I have only taken practice photos (about 500 actually), but after studying the manual completely, I am now ready to try the camera out in the field. Unfortunately, I am due to have plastic surgery, to-morrow morning, so photography will have to be put off for while. Acting on my emailed scalp photos, the surgeon brought my operation forward a couple of weeks, which is great.
Please check out the new Panasonic FZ200-
This is absolutely the best "Bridge" camera out there.
It has a f2.8 aperture and 24X zoom. I paid $599.- but the price has come down slightly.
P.S. It has 12.1 Mp sensor and shoots in JPEG and RAW.

Dear Ozgirl:
Gosh, your mum looked so young in the photo! She looks as if she is only 75 years old there. She was so bright-eyed and her skin is amazingly smooth for 95!!!! What face cream did she use! Thanks for sharing her photo with us.
All the best,
