Backyard vistors.
Your opinion please. You have to be quick shooting these little guys, as they don't stay long in one place.

Thank you. Glad you like them. The 2nd butterfly has a story behind him. He flittered around landing on different flowers. I went for my camera, came back and he was gone. I was about to give up, when he came back with 7 friends. They stayed for awhile and then they were gone.
The dragonflies seem to be curious little guys. They'll buzz around you and then hover right in front of your camera and then fly off before you can snap their pic. Oh, the joys of Nature.
The dragonfly looks like it should be a character in the movie CARS, nice capture!

His last meal for the year
I love your butterfly photos. I learned a trick to keep them on the flower long enough the photograph. Just make some sugar water like for humming birds and put it in a spray bottle. Spray in on the flowers you are trying to get the little buggers to stay on and when they lite, they will stay as long as you want. I tried it and it does work. Just wish there were more butterflies around here.
Thank you, guys for the compliments. Railfab, I will definitely try the sugar water tip.
Nice job with those! That butterfly looks like a Gulf Fritillary.
Thanks. I have been trying to find out what his species is. I just Googled "Gulf Fritillary" and he's a perfect match. Seems to be the only kind of butterfly that visits our backyard. Any suggestions fro attracting other kinds of butterfies?

Oh my goodness! The dragonfly makes me think of the cartoon character Betty Boop. Great shots. I have found that butterflies really like fruit, especially pears (over-ripe) & they get so caught up in eating that you can get close enough to touch them.
Thanks. Another idea to try.
