mjc No. 12

Same scene as No. 11, but while I liked having the Golden Gate in the background of No.11, here I like the wave. Again, just playing around with photoshop looking for something different. I honestly have no memory of what I did to create the effects on No.11, so this time I kept a few notes if I ever want to play around with this look again. I remember this shot, I was pretty nervous and told the model not to go out onto that rock, but she was brave enough to want "the shot". To this day, probably the most "dangerous" image I have taken. One slightly larger wave than normal and I am not sure I would have ever seen this lady again.

Well, with the other, the two items of interest are facing out of the frame, nothing you can so, the light is coming from the left- if you want it on her front. ( Referring her to the other image)

This one is much more balanced... much better eye movement, everything is firing.... while I like the idea of the bridge- this is the superior composition and photo by far.

Great composition. I think you improved over this one by the French painter Bouguoerau done in 1907.

She's a brave lady. Sleeper waves are known to exist around the bay. Great capture

I too, have been put to the ‘which version of an idea do I think I like the best’ test. I know that feeling, so you pick one because you have to, not wanting to show two or more variations on a theme. Then, when everyone is oohing and aahing, you decide that you’re a putz and another version of the idea in question seems better. (I’m talking about myself now.). Sometimes I think it’s better to just sit on it for a while and let it simmer in yer brain. Too bad we can’t workshop these ideas…but wait, that IS what we’re doing here. Well, wadya know about that?

Of your two, I like the bridge version because the model is looking into the camera and creating a cerebral link with the viewer. I like the wave version because, the wave. Both have a surreal, game of thrones kind of atmosphere that is engaging. Fock, now I’m playing that game with your shots.

Never mind because I like them both. If I had to choose one to hang on a wall, I think I’d take the bridge/wave one. (Do you have a version with both elements?)

Sadly I don't have one with both, I didn't want her to linger out there too long. I like the bridge one cause it gives a location. The lighting gives time of day, so in a way a viewer almost knows when and where the shot occured (no idea why that thought appeals to me, except maybe someday someone who saw that image will be walking at that location, recognize the rock and say "heh, I remember that rock...where's the naked girl?"). I like the wave one just cause it is cool. Strange thought that I don't know where it came from, but for some reason the bridge one (and a lesser extent the wave shot) makes me think of Lord of the Rings, the bridge being Barad dur and after the destruction of the ring, the dark clouds and turmoil, making Alexis Frodo, you know if Frodo was staggeringly attractive...and had breasts, defiantly standing on the rock, isolated as the world is ending, awaiting the arrival of the eagles. I suppose in my version Sam fell in and was washed away, sorry Sam. OK, enough LOTR talk.

Is there no chance of combining the photos and doing a bit of PP blending at the seam? Adding the bridge to the right of the wave photo might be the easier option.

The other solution to the dilemma of which one to choose is to have more than one wall/room in the house so that you can hang them both.
