Fabulous Lifestyle Editorial Craig!
Loving the rich vivid color harmonies latent within...
Perfect choice of using hard direct sunlight as a "Kicker" to halo your two friends!
And you were up against a formidable challenge with their millinery shadowing their facial features.

btw, you certainly bonded well with your clients here... Charming expresses... That in itself is half the challenge solved. There have been times in this situation that I've actually resorted to deploying the pop-up on camera flash. Yes folks say that's never a good solution, however with practice you can find the magic balance that allows you to under expose the ambient by -0.7 and pump a burst of daylight balanced flash to illuminate the talent's face.

Below is one such example using a D7200 with a Sigma AF 50-150mm f/2.8 DC OS APO HSM (for Nikon).
If you look closely at the download you'll see a little Catch Light in both eyes from the popup Flash.

The more you play with your tools the easier it gets... Thanks again for sharing Craig.

Inspiring example, Thomas. I like how you were probably close enough for the pop up flash to be seen in her eyes.

Thanks so much for the compliment, also. You’re right that we were having fun. I already tried one earlier but didn’t have the mini flash on full power and thought their faces were too dark. We were sightseeing some more and I “saw” the picture here and set up the shot.

Enjoy your day knowing you’re making a difference in people’s lives.
