I posted earlier about the Sony RX100 VI as a replacement camera for my large cameras and got plenty of great advice for which I am very thankful. By the time I was ready to place my order it was gone. After much searching I found the Panasonic which is probably not as good as the Sony but it was a lot cheaper and has most of the same specs. I'll keep you posted how it works out. I have plenty of gardens and car shows in the area where I can try it out. Thanks again for all your great advice.

I have one. I think you will like it. I also have a zs50, which I had converted to infra-red by Kolari. It produces wonderful pictures. I also have a zs70, which has greater zoom. And I have my trusty fz1000, which though several years old still produces great images.

I think you'll be surprised at the results you will get. I also have one, and I think it's a great camera. Plenty of features, jacket pocketable. Other than the non tilt able screen, it has everything I want in a small camera.

I'm an RX100 owner but I'd say you will be very happy with your new choice. At some point, and with today's great cameras pretty quickly, it comes down to skill of the user and speaking for myself most of these can take me beyond my abilities. Have fun, I think you will have a ball learning your new Lumix.

I will add my testimonial about the LUMIX ZS100 - I love mine! I wanted a larger sensor than the Canon G9 and decided on the ZS100. I have it within reach wherever I go. I’ve won compliments on images it produces from fellow photogs.

I have a ZS-100, and I have been very pleased with it. Do not let it get soaked, that can cause problems! Mine got soaked in a motorcycle tank bag in a major rain deluge. I am not talking about a sprinkle. I was able to get it repaired. It still delivers good photos! It doesn’t have the fastest lens, but it is a good quality lens within its limits.

I posted earlier about the Sony RX100 VI as a repl... (show quote)

You will find the camera equal to the Sony, Some Panasonic Lumix cameras have been re-badged by Leica. I have the FZ70 and ZS100.

I took a trip a few years ago and took only my Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS70. I was not disappointed, and would do it again.

Really the only thing you would miss from the Sony would be frame rate and focus speed, things that aren’t usually that important to someone shooting this type of camera. You’ll love the Lumix and the savings.

I have a zs 100 and a zs 70. I got the 70 for travel and its excellent telephoto lens (700 mm or so) with no weight. Eventually bought the zs 100 for its larger image sensor, though I'm not sure it was worth the difference. Either way, an excellent camera for travel unless photography is the main reason to travel.

Panasonic makes a great travel camera - small size, large zoom, good color science and easy menus.
