California No Longer Going To Hell...
I've seen that demand for electric vehicles is way up. I have a Prius that I have to fill so infrequently that I often nearly forget about it. It's a great car for around town. I've noticed that every time gas goes up people do two things: they start looking for cars that get better mileage and they blame the oil companies for collusion and expect the politicians to "do something". When gas prices go down they think it's going to last forever and they start buying the big-ass gas guzzlers again. Very few people need to drive around town in F-150s and the like but these are the big profit makers for the car companies so they entice people to buy them.

3.83 at Sam's Club in the Lehigh Valley of PA. And, prices here in PA are more than in NJ so the Sam's there would most likely be even less. Never thought I would enjoy the "low" price of gas at more than 3.50 a gallon!
Can some one educate me please? I’ll admit to knowing less about electric cars than most 10 year olds but where does the power come from to generate the electricity to power the electric cars?
$3.69 here. Less than half of what it is in Europe, less than what it has been at times in the last ten years, adjusted for inflation. Electing different government officials won't help, unless there are enough votes for price controls.
In Quebec Canada, it costs ~ $7.19 cdn/gallon or ~ $5.70 USD. I will buy an electric car after this because we have an abundance of hydroelectric power. In fact the current provincial government is currently telling the population that it will be phasing out gas-power and implementing electric only in the next 10 years.
I realize this can be different in many places not blessed with as much hydro power that we have but there are other ways to do so.
I forget who said this, maybe JFK.. ...We just have to want to do it....

WOW, I think its $4.09 here in Florida. I don't care though, I drive a Tesla :-)
#1. The power that charges your Tesla most likely comes from fossil fuel.
#2. When your Tesla batteries are worn out, how will they be disposed of? Landfill most likely. You are helping the environment how??
That's a lame argument...the same place the power comes from for your computer, cell & the a/c in your house.
Change outside AC unit to a heat pump....
Did you ever think that an AC unit IS a heat pump!
Just pumping the heat from inside the house to outside.

Thank you Dannj. Great question ! I'm with you. As it is California is experiencing frequent brownouts.
As I mentioned above, around me it is from water...hydroelectric. NOT fossil fuels like coal. There it is s good thing to switch. As for all the people arguing against the Tesla comment, yes it is not as clean as it is made out to be but come on, switching to electric is still better. How soon we forget that we use batteries for so many things...cell phones etc etc. As yes energy is used to manufacture these cars...dumb argument. Same for non-electric cars.
The bigger point, even if Tesla is not 100% green as so many like to point out, it is a step in the right direction and can be improved in time. It is better than the status quo.
Then why do we keep reelecting the same people year after year?
Hate to say this but there's a man among our midst that's been in politics for 47 years without any real accomplishments. And we rewarded him with the presidency.
Nothing will change until we the electorate smarten up.
You do NOT hate to say this. Please keep personal politics out of the discussion.
