Early walk at a local lake and park...

My photo club met at a local park for walk. This will be an impromptu peoples choice contest voted on my club members. It was early on Saturday and it was overcast and grey/flat light. I, however, remembered to pack a flash and better beamer modifier. I'm posting 3 photo's. Two versions of the same photos, one with a sky replacement. The other is straight up out of camera.

I'm the odd man out... I prefer the blown-out background as I think it makes the parrots(?) pop. Cormorant drying out? Nice shots!

To me the sky replacement looks too in-focus - like the parrots were posing in front of a background...

Good point - maybe a little Gaussian blur on the sky replacement would be better.

Surprisingly, I like #2. But you can sometimes get a blue sky background by adjusting the color temperature without replacing the sky. It's easy to go too far but I would try that first before replacing the sky. I am in the minimal post processing fraternity. Are these guys wild in San Diego?
