I first heard it a Joan Baez concert where it captured me.

Good one! You know what they say, Jack, if you can remember the '60s, you were not there.

Thanks Mike. While I NEVER used psychedelics, they terrified me, 1965 to the early 70s are more a series of flashbacks than true memories

A beautiful song about the horrors and general idiocy of war. I also really like "The green fields of France". This link is to the version by the Clancy Brothers, with lyrics.

Eric Bogle has written several great songs about war and it’s travesties. In addition to “Green Fields…” and “…Waltzing Matilda” “The Gift of Years” and “My Youngest Son Came Home Today” also address the complexities of war. I could go on but if you’re interested in listening to his work check Amazon Music or YouTube. In spite of the serious nature of much of his work he also has a humorous song…well, to me anyway…about an adventurous cat who meets an unglamorous demise.

Thanks for looking Steve. I can't figure how to get rid of the adds when linking to You Tube. Any ideas?
