This is an embroidery called 'Hardanger' pronounced hardunger. It originated in the Scandinavia countries.
This one started as a plain piece of blue material, no pattern or anything, Just right out of my Honey's head as she went along, Take a good look at the wings on the butterflies. Those little squares are cut out and then stitched up to keep their shape. This piece is about two feet by one. It doesn't take hours to do, it takes months. This a wedding present for a special nephew,

What patience!

One of my "Dadisms" told to my kids: "I don't have the time to learn patience."
Even at a young age, they got the irony of that statement.

Simply beautiful. Makes me wonder if she ever took up photography how intricately and deep would each and every shot would be with her concentration of perfection.

She worked on it several hours a day and then she would work on me. She said the Hardanger was easier. :)

I have thought of that to and I don't even want to think about it. She takes out many stitches when she makes a mistake.
Thanks for looking
