Does the US have equipment that can shoot down hypersonic missiles?
The answer seems to be NO !
Apparently Putin is starting to use them against Ukraine.

If you believe the answer is no (I really don't know), you should be able to offer sources that brought you to this conclusion.
I'd tell ya, but then I'd have to k**l you. ;-)
I would speculate that if traveling a great distance there could be a reaction time for a defense that would work.. Perhaps? But the short Russia to central Ukraine distance gives little time to track and destroy. We UHHians have no basis for speculation regarding the SIFI world of high technology.

So the logic train goes from the Russians are using hypersonic missies against Ukraine to the US cannot shot them down, with no stops in between.
You started with your conclusion, tried to work backward to evidence and got lost.

Experts at MIT and the University of Colorado say current U.S. defense can detect these new weapons, but do not yet have the ability to strike a hypersonic weapon in mid-course.

You and nobody on UHH has the real answer, thus the discussion.

I was commenting on the incoherence of your argument. Nothing more, nothing less.
On the actual question, I don’t know the answer and neither do you.
Your article says nothing about shooting them down. You didn't read the post.
If you think that our military reveals where we are in defending against these weapons, you are surprisingly naive. They don't reveal where they are and we don't reveal where we are. But let's take a hypothetical example: Mach 1 = 767 miles per hour (the speed of sound). Hypersonic begins at roughly at Mach 5 at roughly 5 times, or 3,835 miles an hour. There have been a suggestion of up to Mach 15 or 11,505 miles an hour - really fast. Scary; but did you know that a laser (aka directed beam)travels at 186,000 miles per second (there have been experiments exceeding it, but in vacuum). We are pretty quiet about lasers, except that they are experimental, but are they really? If they aren't, our military is not talking.
