I've never seen a Stilt with legs that long before! I think there was a Gubmint screw up somewhere.

Mother Nature has a weird sense of humor, but then maybe not.
Great photos. They are interesting and beautiful birds. I have some Stilts I see from time to time and always enjoy shooting them. The legs do seem longer than usual causing me to think someone did not get the Memo. But your third photo brings to light the reason for the long legs. That bird can Wade out into deeper water for maybe the best morsels of food.

The Black Necked Stilt has the longest legs per body size for any bird except the Flamingo. Nice image.
