Shoot tall structures without the fall-away effect that tipping the camera up to capture the entire building produces. Shift Function that pivots to both a landscape orientation or a portrait orientation. Use Tilt Function to control depth-of-field in product shooting or creating miniatures or model images.
It will also give the miniature-effect to real world scenes shooting downward from an elevated position.

Highly specialized lens for wide-angle landscapes shifting the front lens element left to right to maintain the same perspective in all frames without introducing distortion to the final stitched panoramic as the camera does not shift position like panning does. The front of the lens moves independently of the camera.

Excellent for architectural photography with both interiors and exteriors shifting the front element from top to bottom to capture single vertical frames like you can do with horizontal frames to produce stitched landscapes.

This is a full-frame DSLR lens. I make no assertions about it's performance on DX bodies. The field-of-view would narrow to that of a 35/36mm lens like any other Full Frame lens on a Crop body.

I would think that it would function properly on a mirrorless body with an FTZ adaptor. Metering is the same with the contacts in the mount. Again it is manual focus and aperture setting.

Note - Some DSLR's like the D800 and D700 have a larger protruding prism that partially conflicts with the rotation of the front element by preventing the larger adjustment knob to pivot into a full-up position. Just rotate it downwards and you can still manipulate the knob from below. It is fully functional on the D850 as there is no pop-up flash thereby giving the prism a shallower profile.
