Hot air balloons.
Just curious, has anyone here gone aloft in a hot air balloon to take photographs? I found a site that offers early morning (dawn) rides near Sedona Az.

I don't know that there is all that much to photograph from a balloon. Maybe I'm wrong.
It sounds like a blast. I can’t do heights so I’m out.
Ya may be wrong and ya may be right. Maw Kettle took your side on this one as she hummed the words to an oldies tune, says I may just be a lunatic. (Any excuse to sleep in).

I promised the owner that I would feature his balloon in my movie if he would let me take movies from above. The movie was on the college web site for five years.

or a producer those are momentary treasures.
i have. very stable platfotm to shoot from. lots to see and a very unique perspective
Don’t forget to shoot the balloon itself!
I did an early morning flight (4 am) in Egypt. There were other balloons around and the sunrise to photograph. It was interesting to get shots of the things on the ground from above and in the air which I would never have got had I not had the hot air balloon flight...
We have done two balloon rides (west of Tucson and north of Phoenix) but not explicitly to take photographs. We have also attended the Albuquerque balloon festival that provides great photo opportunities since you can mingle with the ballooners. We have also rented a Cessna (with pilot) explicitly to photograph along mid-coast Maine and twice taken helicopter rides to photograph in Sedona and over the Grand Canyon. In New Zealand we took a plane ride over the “southern Alps” so I would say we are fans of photographing from the air. I highly recommend it since it’s a whole new perspective.

In Sedona there is. Also, the helicopter tour is spectacularly picturesque.
You only live once! If you think you have an interest in trying it... do it!
Take the balloon ride; leave the camera in the car; enjoy the spectacular view with your eyes.
Did that in Pagosa Springs, Colorado in 15 degree weather and had a lot of fun. I got some interesting shots of a frozen pond as well as landscapes. Once in the air the propane flame gave off plenty of heat to keep us comfortable. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I imagine ballooning in Sedona would be spectacular!
