I'm laughing already!

How about "Killer Clowns from Outer Space"? There are lots of crazy titles.

How about "Plan 9 From Outer Space?" Voted the worst movie ever made

Even the costumes were a joke. Very ill fitting. I think they came from plan 2... LOL.

The vampire movies really got creative, Jerry. The one that I remember most was the gunfighter vampire. You could shoot him but he couldn't die. That is, ofc, until the preacher in town put a wooden cross on his bullet and shot the vampire gunfighter in the heart during a duel. THAT killed him. I guess the genre would be Western Horror Vampire

Other than The Mummy with Borris Karloff, the recent Cabin in the Woods may be one of the best.

I love those movies about people going to a cabin in the woods. There was a very good one involving a tech company that had cameras all around the cabin, and I think they bet on what was going to happen. There were also real, actual monsters involved, and they got out at the end.

I'm not crazy about zombie movies - too many and not much variation.

EDIT: I just looked up Cabin in the Woods. Yes, that was a good one.

The remake of the Blob wasn't very good - no surprise there.

And they went to Outer Space sitting on folding chairs!
Bela Lugosi died before the film was finished so you never see his face towards the end of the film.
LOL!

Some of those 1950 sci-fi movies lacked much technical expertise.

Yes, and Kevin McCarthy had a cameo in the remake.

I grew up going to the Eagle Theatre in Pontiac, MI watching horror movies on Saturdays in the fifties. You may remember. The Creature from the Black Lagoon; The House on Haunted Hill; and all kinds of vampire movies; The Fifty Foot Man: The Hand; The Tingler; The Mummy (the Boris Karloff Mummy. One of the greatest of all times); The Hand; etc. The Eagle was a social institution. While our schools were segregated by boundary lines, on Saturday, the Eagle was populated by kids from both sides of town....black, white and the few hispanic kids we had. We were all there to see the movie and got along just fine.

I had exactly the same childhood. For me it was a cheap double feature theatre (either 10 or 15 cents admission plus popcorn or candy of course) I think The Day the Earth Stood Still and War of the Worlds were my first two at about age 5 or 6, but they were more technically SciFi. I saw all the Frankenstein, Mummy and Dracula movies, both the Creature from the Black Lagoon films and other classics, butI gravitated toward SciFi such as This Island Earth and Forbidden Planet. But I have no use for the slasher/chainsaw movies

And do remember Humphrey Bogart’s horror movie, The Return of Doctor X?
