Okay, this is just weird.
Yesterday I discovered, somewhat to my chagrin, that my Fuji 16MM f1.4 lens will not auto focus on the X-T3 body with which it has worked for years in either single or continuous focus mode. It does work normally on the X-T4, however.
Yes, I checked the contacts are clean.
Yes, other Fuji lenses (both prime and zoom) that I own work fine on the X-T3, and
Yes, I have the latest firmware updates on both the bodies and the lens (the latest update for the 16MM is circa 2016)
So the question is - can anyone think of what might be causeing this odd situation? I plan to call Fuji support tomorrow, but thought perhaps another member here has experienced someething similar.
TIA

Did you turn off the AF in a menu somewhere somehow? Is there a switch on the lens? Some of my newer Pentax products have a AF switch on both body and lens that must be on for AF. There are also more obscure menu settings that can affect AF. My only Fujifilm camera thus far is a X-100T. The X-T* are top of the line MILCs.

Well had I done that then AF wouldn’t work with all my other lenses, so no.

OK, true enough. But I did not recall you saying you had more lenses. I was thinking of asking if you had tried other lenses if you had them. Hope you figure it out.

I appreciate that - it is why I stated that in point #2 in my original post
Aha! Problem solved - though it brings up a different question.
Turns out this was user error - I inadvertently had pulled the focus ring on the 16MM lens back, disengaging the clutch that allows auto-focus (supposedly) - so that's on me.
But what is particularly curious (and the techs at Fuji hadn't known) is that, despite the ring being set back to manual focus position, the X-T4 still does auto focus with it!
'Splain me that one!
