16x9 aspect ratio

I need to shoot some images at 16 x 9 aspect ratio to be shown in slide presneetaion on television. It will be a rushed job, as the shots will need to be available on screen almost immediately with no time to resize in Photoshop for instance. I will be using a Canon 600D and cannot find a setting that enables me to do this, although I am told it is possible. Can anyone assist with confirming whether or not this is possible and if so how I access the settings

Most cameras give you the option to shoot in 16:9 ratio. You'll find it in the setup menu. Mine gives the option to shoot in 3:2 or 16:9. Hope this helps....!

Thanks for this. The Canon 600d is the only digital camera I have been unable to find a menu option for 16x9 aspect ratio anywhere. However since my initial post I have discovered I can set the aspect ratio to 16x9 when I use the image screen, but not when using the viewfinder. This of course is a poor substitute. I am now on my third time going through the manual but still not found a solution.

Although it may be a pain - you can resize your images in post to fit the 16x9 form factor. It may require that you crop the images a little bit. Certainly would be easier if the cameras had a setting to do that - but that would require that they show you a crop border on the back screen / live view so you'd know what you were about to capture. The manual resize option would only be practical if you have just a few images to process. If you have hundreds - you may need another option.
I can bulk resize images in PSE {as well as in PS and likely PSP}, and many image thumbnail programs such as ACDSee, Thumbs Plus, and likely Lightroom, will let you resize an entire folder full of photos in one fell swoop.
Good luck !! :-)

How on earth do you think you will change an optical viewfinders aspect ratio?

Many thanks Greg. An excellent viewpoint, which of course I had completely overlooked. This is the complete answer. I am however a little sad that the style of your reply is rather curt, unfriendly and somewhat patronising. Not everyone Is as knowledgeable as you. I do however understand your problem with the pressure of hurricane Sandy being so close. I hope you remain safe. Thanks again.

No offense intended. And it's not only close, it's here unfortunately. Have been without power, cable, internet and phone for about 8 hours now, with no estimate of restoration. :\ Thanks for your thoughts though.
